Preparation
The preparation begins with assessing the concrete's hardness to select suitable diamond tooling. A heavy-duty floor grinder is then used to uniformly grind the garage surface, complemented by a hand grinder for edges and hard-to-reach areas. Cracks and divots are identified and filled with polyurea crack filler, which is subsequently ground to ensure a smooth, level surface. The process concludes with a thorough vacuuming of all dust and debris using a heavy-duty dust collector, ensuring the floor is immaculately clean and primed for the base coat application.
Base Coat
Following the meticulous preparation of the floor, we proceed with the base coat application. This stage employs a polyaspartic polyurea formula, chosen for its minimal odor and superior adhesion qualities to the newly profiled concrete surface. Initially, the formula is applied to the garage's stem walls (if necessary), ensuring thorough coverage. The application is then extended to the entire floor surface, establishing a consistent and robust base. This specialized formula enhances the floor's resilience and aesthetic appeal, setting the stage for the final finishes.
Flake
Following the base coat application, 80 pounds of decorative flakes are evenly distributed across the stem walls and the entire floor, ensuring thorough coverage. The flakes are applied liberally to achieve full saturation, enhancing the floor's aesthetic appeal significantly. After application, a designated drying period is observed to ensure optimal adhesion.
Scrape
Once the drying period has concluded, a thorough scraping process is initiated to remove any excess flakes, ensuring that no loose or vertically oriented flakes remain on the surface. Subsequently, the surplus flakes are gathered and securely stored. To guarantee the complete removal of any residual flakes, a final vacuum pass is conducted, leaving the floor smooth, clean, and impeccably prepared for the application of the top coat.
Top Coat
The final step of the process is the application of the top coat, utilizing a polyaspartic formula renowned for its superior strength, significantly surpassing traditional epoxy in durability, and offering UV resistance. The polyaspartic material is precisely poured and then spread across the floor with a squeegee, followed by a meticulous back rolling technique to ensure an even and uniform distribution. This critical step not only fortifies the floor with an additional layer of durability but also enhances its visual appeal with a sleek, clean aesthetic.
